Take the hassle out of bringing your own hiking gear for your Overland Track adventure.

We strongly recommend bringing your own wherever possible. It’s often more cost-effective, and you’ll likely be more comfortable using equipment you're already familiar with.

We offer gear hire, including:

  • Packs

  • Tents

  • And other essentials

If bringing your gear isn’t an option, we’re happy to assist with hire arrangements and provide a quote. Just let us know what you need. Gear hire is subject to availability, so we recommend booking early, especially during the peak hiking season.

A bright yellow emergency GPS device with a red activation button labeled 'ACTIVATE,' a yellow safety alert bar labeled 'EMERGENCY USE ONLY,' and a blue test button labeled 'TEST.' It has additional labels including 'kti,' 'GPS,' and 'PLB.' The device is placed on a textured gray carpet.

Personal Locator Beacons (PLBs)

We have a limited number of PLBs available for hire. However, we recommend hiring directly from Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service when you book your Overland Track permit. They offer a larger supply, along with the added benefit of integration into their safety monitoring system. PLBs rented through Parks can be conveniently returned at the Lake St Clair Visitor Centre at the end of your walk.

Please note: PLBs are not essential, the overland track is very well marked and has many other hikers on the track.
