Overland Track in Winter
June - September
Winter is one of the best times to experience the Overland Track. With far fewer walkers, crisp alpine air, and snow-covered peaks, the track feels quieter, wilder, and more remote. For experienced and well-prepared hikers, winter offers Tasmania at its most raw, dramatic, and rewarding.
Winter brings colder temperatures, snow, ice, and shorter daylight hours, so good planning and dependable transport are essential.

Reliable, Fair & Good Value Operations
Once your transfer is confirmed, it will operate.
Winter weather can occasionally cause short delays, but we plan for Alpine conditions and will get to you safely. Safety always comes first, with reliability a close second.
Our approach keeps winter transfers easy, low-stress, and excellent value for money. During winter, eGuide Overland Track Shuttles operate in partnership with trusted local operators, including Tasmanian Wilderness Experiences and Wild Island Adventures. On some days, walkers may travel in a shared vehicle operated by one of these partners.
By working together, we reduce unnecessary costs and pass those savings onto walkers, ensuring winter transfers remain reliable, affordable, and fair for everyone.

Launceston to Cradle Mountain
The most common starting option.
Most walkers depart Launceston in the morning to arrive at Cradle Mountain as the park shuttles begin operating, allowing a smooth and timely start to the Overland Track.
Launceston to Lake St Clair
A popular option for walkers starting from South to North.
Early afternoon departures work well, connecting with the Lake St Clair ferry or allowing time to walk out from Narcissus Hut or Echo Point.
Lake St Clair to Launceston
Ideal for walkers finishing the Overland Track and returning to Launceston.
To help keep costs down, transfers are timed efficiently before returning north. Many walkers choose to take the ferry to Narcissus, stay overnight at the free campsite at Cynthia Bay, or walk out from Echo Point or Narcissus Hut before pickup.
Lake St Clair to Cradle Mountain
Best suited for walkers who have parked a vehicle at one end of the track and need a direct transfer between trailheads.

For walkers who have parked a vehicle at Deloraine or wish to connect with the Kinetic coach services to Hobart, Launceston or Devonport.

Cradle Mountain to Deloraine
A practical option for walkers needing onward connections to Hobart or Devonport, or for those who have parked a vehicle in Deloraine.
Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair
Ideal for walkers who have parked a vehicle at either end of the Overland Track and need to return to their starting point.
